Developer Training at Civi Sprint Manchester

After a break of 3 years, sunny Manchester saw the return of CiviCRM Development training. Attendees came from far and wide, including Berlin and Texas - it was great to meet everyone in real life! Members of the Core Team worked with us for 2 days intensively building on our knowledge.

As well as the basics of extension development, we got to see new exciting features such as the Form Builder / Form Action and Search Kit extensions expertly demo'd. These are certain to make application development easier and more flexible in the future.

Underfall Yard Lunch in the Sun

We are all enjoying working in different places at the moment, some in the Create Centre, some at home, in the North and in the South. Getting together in the May sunshine a stones throw from the office was a good chance to be together and spend some time in the office face to face. The Underfall Yard is a really special place full of the history of Bristol's boating and harbour history.  They make a great coffee and you can stretch your eyes over the water to the Cottage.

iCal not respecting Daylight Saving Times

We have had a few clients talk to us that the iCal sent from CiviCRM is incorrect. So we investigated this and we couldn't find any problems. When we opened the iCal in a Text Reader the time matched the event time and it entered into our calendars correctly. Must be a setting on the clients PC we thought, maybe incorrect Time Zone?

We checked Apple Calendars, Thunderbird, Google etc. All worked correctly. As you can see none of us use Windows or Outlook.....

Spam and Block lists

We are seeing a large increase in emails getting flagged as Spam by the recipient, especially from Microsoft. All it can take is a few people marking an email as Spam and you can get blocked across whole domains. This isn't just you though, this affects the whole server you are on. So a few people marking your email as Spam can stop thousands of people getting emails delivered and everyone's reputation is affected.
