CiviCRM Start

The Civi CRM Home page consists of several sections. The main menu can be found in tabs at the top of the screen, a left hand side block will normally contain shortcuts to common activities such as creating a new contact or recording an activity, and the main body of the screen or Dashboard is configurable.

Dashboard

To configure the dashboard the administrator must make reports available as 'dashlets', depending on a users permissions they can then the choose which report 'dashlets' they want to show.

Drag and drop your required Dashlets from those availble to you into the columns and then click Done.

CiviCRM functions are accessed through the links on the CiviCRM Home page or through the CiviCRM menu, which the site administrator configures at Administer » Site Building » Blocks. In older versions typically the CiviCRM menu is placed in the left sidebar, but this depends on your theme and desired layout.

This will now usually be found across the top of the main window of your web browser on every CiviCRM page.

Most of the main functions can be managed from here. To access them click on the link title.

Depending on what components you have enabled or have access to you will see the following tabbed menus

Home - returns you to the dashboard page, may be configured to offer option of returning the home page of your website as well.

Search - you can use a variety of search utilities from this menu as well as create your own using increasingly sophisticated search tools. See CiviCRM Search for more information.

Contacts - For creating new contacts and managing groups of contacts (includes import tools). CiviCRM Contacts.

Contributions - tools for setting up and managing CiviContribute

Mailings - CiviMail menu for scheduling and sending bulk email to contacts.

Memberships - membership management including subscription dues

Reports - CiviReport menu for access to existing menus and creating new ones form templates. See CiviReport

Other - may contain civi modules CiviCase and CiviGrant

Administration - menu access to all the elements of the administration console

Help - resources from CiviCRM websites
