CiviCRM Search

There are a number of ways to search CiviCRM. You'll find them grouped under Find Contacts in the main CiviCRM menu, and depending on your setup a Contact Search block with a field for entering the name of the contact you are looking for.

Contact Search

The simplest search available, just enter a string and all name fields on individuals and organisations records are searched "in real time" and offered in an ever decreasing number until your string matches the entry in the CiviCRM database

Find Contacts

 

Clicking on Find Contacts in the CiviCRM Menu  brings up a submenu of alternative, more complex searches and a  main dialogue page, allowing you to search by email, and refine your search by keeping it to certain groups and tags, or specifying individuals or organisations.

If you have used Wildcards in the past they are no longer necessary during this process.
