CiviReport
CiviReport allows the creation of a variety of reports by adapting templates of existing reports that are provided initially and available through the Reports Listing function in the main CiviCRM menu.

To create reports you have to access the templates through the Administaion menu however. Adminster >> CiviReports >> Create Report from Template
Reports are developed using two large sets of options Report Criteria and Report Display.
Report Criteria
To create report based on a template first select your template. In the example below we will use the Activity Template. The Criteria page will open and allow you to select the columns you wish to use/display and a set of filter options on what information you want to extract from the selected columns

Once you have an initial idea of wwhat you require click the preview button at the bottom. CiviReport returns the results of the query plus a set of tools for using the results.
The Criteria tab can be accessed again to fine tune the report.
The Create Report tab has series of options to make the report vailable to a wider audience.
Create Report
Title - this is the report entry that wil appear in the CiviReport menu in CiviCRM
Description - displayed in Reports Listing
Report Header & Footer - provides formatted areas for pdf output of reports if required
Email Delivery - reports can be scheduled to run and sent to named email accounts on a regular basis
Other Settings - the report can be included in the navigation menu and/or restricted to users with correct permissions, it can also be made available as a dashlet for user CiviCRM Dashboards

Within Report Settings are utilities for
- formatting printed or pdf versions of the report
- mailing reporst
- scheduling
